Neighborhoods

On this page I will review different Cities in Los Angeles County.

When Home Buyers ask me about neighborhoods, I give my honest opinion based on statistics but as per the Federal Fair Housing Law, I can't recommend a neighborhood or discuss against one.  What I always suggest is when selecting a neighborhood, consider your situation.

  •  Do you need to be in a certain school district?  This is important for families that would like to keep their children in the same schools.
  • Do you have to be close to public transportation?  If so, buying a house on a hill may not be the wisest decision. What type of home do you want?  Some neighborhoods are best for town homes and some are mixed industrial and residential.  These can be priced better but you may have to deal with busier streets during the day.  With town homes, you have to consider the extra cost of the Homeowner's Association.  Do you want a new development?
  •  Think about the affordability.  Many times, buyers ask me for neighborhoods that will not fit in their budget.  Be proactive, do your own research online, drive the neighborhoods, go to open houses, visit the schools, walk areas in different times of day, go inside the stores to get a feel of the shoppers!  Yes this is very important, here you will find the sense of the local pride and camaraderie.
  • My biggest advice is, start by meeting with your local mortgage broker to help you understand your options on what you could borrow.  This will prevent future surprises, frustrations and disappointments.
All the best!!
